Why GNN exists
There had to be a better way
Too many homeowner platforms feel like lead mills. You fill out a form, get flooded with calls, and still are not sure who to trust. Projects go unfinished or half-baked, leaving homeowners frustrated and unsure where to turn. I kept running into the same problem: too many calls, too many unknown contractors, and no clear way to know who to trust.
For me, it all came to a head on an Easter Sunday evening after a wonderful weekend hosting family for the holiday. I was putting extra chairs away in my basement when I noticed a pinhole leak in a pressurized copper hot-water pipe leaving my water heater. I did not know who to call or what to do.
After shutting off the water main, I filled out a form online in hopes of finding someone who could help as soon as possible. No one called. No one offered advice. Then, in the middle of Monday, the calls started coming in force—continuing through Tuesday, Wednesday, and beyond. Multiple service companies called every day with high-pressure sales pitches and little understanding of my actual situation.
I finally called a local HVAC technician I had come to know and trust, hoping he could give me something to go on—anything. He referred me to his plumbing contractor, who gave me a tip that allowed me to fix the problem quickly, efficiently, and safely. It really made me think: there has to be a better way.
